UD2.....UD who?

Looks like a strict UD2 program is not going to happen for now. Whatever I am doing right now works, but it's not UD2 and I'm not gonna call it that.

Frankly, I don't completely understand what's taking place in my body.

- fat is slowly melting away
- muscle tone looks good to me
- energy is great

But if I told you what I've been eating and drinking every night you'd put some hate on me:) So, what the heck is going on? I sure like the result, but I don't understand it.

Visiting Relatives+Sunburn

Why is it that this round of UD2 is a total mess? I prefer to stick to the outlined plan. I love plans.

This week I had out-of-town in-laws stay at the house for a couple of days. We went out to eat...then they cooked dinner for us the next day.....Oh well. I didn't stick 100% to my diet, nor training, but I didn't gain any fat as far as I can tell. All the measurement are as the ones from the last week. I did manage to do 2 workouts though.

Then on Friday I got a major sunburn. ALL OVER my body. I am still as red as a lobster as I'm typing this with Aloe Vera at my side. By looking at my face you can definitely tell I was wearing sunglasses:)

My last workout was done in my garage. I really enjoyed it. Now all of the types of workouts (depletion, tension, power) can be done right here. Good to know, since my gym membership expires in August.

Addition to Home Gym

Yesterday hubby and I picked up a Body Craft cable crossover from craiglist. Great deal, awesome smoothness of the action. Very happy with the purchase.

Now I have two chin up bars!

The guy threw in the bench too. Solid.

This is how it looks with the Nautilus Oly bench now:

and of course the cardio machine + weights:

I sure hope I'll be able to do depletion today. Haven't eaten anything since morning. Stomach trouble. Let's just say that the 'toilet scene' from "Dumb and Dumber" is coming to mind:)))

Power Workout. Bench goes up!

Funny week it was:) It started well. Then in the middle of the week I got stomach pain and wound up in ER. Could not eat most of the day. Needless to say, when I started feeling better the next day, my body wanted to catch up on all the missed nutrients:) So I didn't feel I depleted sufficiently by Friday (I weighed in at the same weight of 135 lbs as last Friday).

I had a very modest refeed Friday night on my date with hubby and Saturday morning went heavy....full body. Oh, if you haven't tried German Arcobräu Dark Lager Beer give it a try. This Munich Dunkel lager pours a chestnut brown with an aroma of caramel and bread dough. It is medium bodied and tastes like caramel with a cola-like characteristic. Goes very well with grilled meat! Alcohol is only 4.7% ... so you can enjoy a few:)

Saturday Power Workout

Again, for lack of time I had to pick and choose (darn those kids' birthday parties! LOL). I concentrated on the upper body with doing some metabolic work for the lower. Not quite UD2, but sometimes u gotta improvise and use your brain.

New best in bench:

95 lbs x 4 reps (compared to 85 lbs last week)

Shoulder pressed went up also (35 lbs DB) ...as well as tris pull downs (90 lbs). I wasn't fullin' around today, I tell ya.

also:

6 chin ups (compared to 5 last week)
3 wide-grip pull ups (compared to ZERO last week)

Calipers are showing: 17% BF with 21.0 BMI

At the moment I am more excited about my strength gain rather than fat loss. Some women might say: "Are you crazy, woman? Losing fat is where it's at!" ... Been there, done that, got a T-shirt. It's more than looking good in the mirror for me now. It's about benching Marius Pudzianowski ! JK

No, it's really about helping my body to function at its best injury-free. Plus, I am always amazed at what human body is able to achieve! I still can't get over the complexity of human body......

Power Workout. New best in Deadlift.

Instead of the workout outlined in Lyle's UD2 book I decided (because of the lack of time) to do just 3 major lifts in my garage.

All carbed up at bodyweight 142 lbs (from Friday's 135 lbs depleted)

Squat 3x5 (135 lbs) went deep
Bench 3x5 (85 lbs) my weekest link
Deadlift 3x5 (205 lbs ... 185 lbs ... 185 lbs) that 205 felt heavy, but good.

week#3 begins tomorrow - yea!

summer 2009 UD2 week 2 results

Second week's end has shown some pleasant surprises:

- 1 inch loss in the waist
- 0.5 inch loss in 'tummy area'
- 1.5 lb fat loss compared to last Friday
- 5 bodyweight chin ups (felt like I could have done 6) compared to 3 last week. Strength is coming back to me after a long break!

I am so psyched for tonight's Tension workout. Controlled stuffing of the face* is right after!

Rest Day

I don't know which one is making me more sore - the Power Workout or the deep tissue massage that I had yesterday.

Ate at maintenance today, maybe slightly more to accommodate muscle repair and growth. I really do not want to lose any muscle while dieting down. At the moment I am about 25 lbs of fat and 113 lbs lean mass.

Tomorrow is 1st day of depletion. Gotta hit it hard. Time to foam roll!

Power Workout

I was quite surprised to deadlift as much as I did today. I have not done deads in like 2 months.

Deadlift:

4 sets of 4 reps (185lbs at bodyweight of 137lbs)

Squat:

4 sets of 4 reps (135lbs)

Threw in some pullups and standing BB military presses. Was running late for massage apmt, so had to cut training short. Massage (1st time experience for me) was great. It was a combination of several types, including sports and deep tissue. Not surprisingly my traps, hams, and quads had plenty of knots. I sit most of the day. Right after the session I did not feel any different, but now I am starting to feel warmth in my neck area and tired all over.

Hubby and I got some cool German beer and an assortment of 6 others from Brawley's today. Gotta love the place with such a great owner and incredible selection of beers!

Night-night.
